Airport As-Needed Architectural/Engineering Services

About this project

The Detroit Metropolitan Airport, located in Romulus, Michigan, is a major international airport and one of the largest air transportation hubs in the country serving over 160 destinations.

The project scope consisted of various as-needed architectural and engineering tasks under a four-year contract which was extended to include an additional four-year period.

Sigma was the Prime Consultant and performed 14 separate major multi-disciplinary tasks which were successfully delivered on schedule and within the approved budgets for two adjoining airports. This work included tasks such as field evaluation and testing services followed by design of the electrical power distribution systems, modeling and design of a storm water detention pond and 30-mg outfall structure, potable water system design for the facilities, design of lighting for all interior and exterior lighting systems, and fast-track design services for a runway deicing pad and operations building.
