As-Needed Engineering Services
About this project
Sigma served as the Prime Consulting Engineer on this as-needed engineering contract involving tasks to upgrade, expand, refurbish, or replace processes and equipment in the multiple water treatment plants and pumping stations throughout the Detroit water system serving Southeast Michigan.
Sigma led the investigations, studies, preliminary and detailed designs, bid review assistance, construction administration and management, and O&M development for a variety of projects for the entire water treatment and distribution system. Projects ranged in size from relocating a distribution control valve that provided cross connection within two major distribution areas, to complete refurbishment of the low and high lift pumping and entire electrical power and lighting systems within a water plant with capacity over 200 MGD. Projects ranged in disciplines from arc flash studies for the plants and pump stations, to determining issues with and implementing HVAC improvements for a laboratory building. Other projects included a fast track design to replace VFDs after a fire in a major pumping station, and upgrading control system equipment in a different pump station to reach standard revision levels.Back to all Projects
