Emergency Operation and Radio Communication Centers

About this project

The 54,000 square foot emergency and communications centers were utilized by 42 city departments including Police, Fire, EMS, Information Technology, and Water and Sewerage.

The design/build project involved the replacement of existing radio communications systems and the refurbishment of existing facilities. The new communications system consisted of a single, common, analog/digital trunked 800 MHz radio communications system and telecommunications network. Security improvements involved reinforced concrete walls and roof slabs, microwave transceivers to detect intruders, motorized gate operators, card readers, and electronic surveillance utilizing roof-mounted closed circuit television cameras.

Sigma was the Lead Engineer-of-record for the architectural design as well as the design for mechanical, electrical, structural, civil and IT (networks and communications) on the new emergency and radio communications center, towers, shelters, fixed based radios, wireless communications, mobile radios, hand-held radios, dispatch consoles, security systems, and emergency generators.
